AFTON - A big fourth quarter helped the Fairland boys hurdle Quapaw 55-49 Friday night in a consolation game at the Afton Coca-Cola Classic.

Also on Friday, the Kansas, Okla., boys beat Bluejacket 63-39.

In girls' games, it was Colcord 62, Fairland 26, and Summit Christian 65, Bluejacket 48.

The schedule on Saturday included Colcord vs. Summit Christian, girls' consolation finals; Fairland vs. Kansas, boys' consolation finals; Quapaw vs. Oklahoma Union, girls' third place; Afton vs. Oklahoma Union, boys' third place; Afton vs. Kansas, girls' championship, and Colcord vs. Summit Christian, boys' championship.

This marked the third straight year for the Lady Eagles and Lady Comets to battle for the championship.

Kansas won the two previous meetings.

This will be the fifth straight year that there will be a different champ on the boys' side.

However, Colcord did win the title in 2003.

Quapaw's boys had led 7-4 after the first quarter, then coasted into the half with a 26-15 bulge.

The Owls made their move in the third quarter thanks to an 18-10 advantage.

Then in the fourth quarter, the Owls erupted for 22 points to claim the victory.

J.C. Morrow got 15 of his 18 points in the second half, including 10 in the third quarter.

Jon Henry keyed the fourth quarter for Fairland, nailing three treys. He had 11 points in the final stanza and ended the game with 15 points.

Brandon Rollet scored a game-high 22 points for the Wildcats. He had nine of his points in the fourth quarter.

Kansas 63, Bluejacket 39

The Comets led 15-11 after one quarter then bumped the margin up to 24-15 at the break.

Kansas started to pull away in the third quarter with an 18-13 edge, then outscored the Chieftains 19-11 over the last eight minutes.

Three players scored in double figures for the Comets.

Trenton Cochran led the way with 16 points while Tyler Lankston and Wade Lewis scored 11 each.

Bluejacket received 12 from David Prine and 11 from Craig Root.

Girls

Colcord 62, Fairland 26

A 22-7 burst in the second quarter helped Colcord take charge.

The Lady Hornets had led only 15-4 at the turn, then rolled into the break with a 37-11 edge.

They continued to pull away in the second half thanks to 18-12 and 7-3 runs.

Tinelle Williams scored 15 and Alena Sanders added 11 for Colcord.

Suzanne Pascoe and Emily Shelton scored eight and seven points, respectively, for the Lady Owls.

Summit Christian 65, Bluejacket 48

Despite scoring a season-high 48 points, the Lady Chieftains remain winless.

Summit Christian, based in Broken Arrow, led 17-9 after the opening frame.

It held an 18-13 edge in the second quarter.

Each team scored 13 in the third quarter and Summit nailed down the win with a 17-13 edge in the fourth.

Kim Lenard poured in 28 points for Summit.

She was joined in double figures by Karen Brown with 16 and Deanna Few with 10.

Samantha Brigstock had a season-high 21 for the Lady Chieftains.

Cheyenne Hall and Kelsey Langley scored 14 and 10, respectively, for Bluejacket.
