About 24 hours after saying he was resigning as women's head coach at Northeastern State University to move to Northwest Missouri State University, Randy Gipson has decided to stay put in Tahlequah.
In a statement released Tuesday evening though NSU, Gipson said: "After serious, deep soul searching, personally and with my family, we have decided that Northeastern State University is where we truly want to be. We have deep roots in this community and found it too difficult to walk away from the multitude of great things happening at NSU."
Gipson recently completed his 13th season at NSU, where he is the school's all-time leader in women's basketball victories (259).
Gipson was to have been introduced at an April 5 in Maryville, Mo., as the replacement for Gene Steinmeyer, who retired at the end of this past season.
Additional details will be posted on miamiok.com and a story will be in Wednesday's print edition of the Miami News-Record.
