COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — The Quapaw girls’ first-round opponent in the 37th annual Interstate Classic here has changed.

The Lady Wildcats were to have faced Coffeyville, Kan., in their tournament opener at 7 p.m. Thursday, but now they have been paired with Andover, Kan., in a 3:30 p.m. game at the Field Kindley High School gym.

The change was necessitated when both boys and girls teams from Kansas City (Mo.) Westport dropped out Tuesday morning.

"We’ll be all right — we will still dribble the same ball and shoot at the same goals," Quapaw coach Rod Graves said.

Host Coffeyville will split up its squad to give the Andover-Quapaw loser an opponent at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The Andover-Quapaw winner will play the Coffeyville varsity at 7 p.m. at the high school.

“Andover is supposed to have a pretty good team,” Graves said.

The Coffeyville JV boys will now play Kansas City (Mo.) Central at 5:15 p.m. at Coffeyville Community College.
