COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - After suffering an 84-69 loss to Independence Community College late Saturday night, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen upset 11th-ranked Johnson County 71-51 Sunday afternoon in the final round of the Jayhawk Shoot-Out.

Seven points each by Reggie Mathis and Cicero Gonzaga, along with four points each by Tulio Cobos, Kenneth Clayton, Lionel Green, Dominique Gaines and Sam Brown, fueled the Golden Norse offense in the first half.

The Norse shot an abysmal 29 percent from the field while falling behind 39-24 at the half to Independence. Contributing to the deficit was an 0-for-6 performance from 3-point range.

Sophomore point-guard Antonio Hanson sank three 3-point field goals and Donald Rowe added two treys to ignite the Pirates (7-3) first half 15-point lead.
