AFTON - Afton senior Allison Bean signed a softball letter of intent with Rogers State University Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period for athletes.

“It's a really good school and they have an awesome coach,” said Bean, who earned all-Lucky 7 Conference honors this past season a middle infielder.

She was one of three players RSU coach Dawn Reed planned to sign during the early period.

Bean had a chance to check out the Rogers State - which once was known as Oklahoma Military Academy - campus life during the recent homecoming activities.

The Hillcats posted a 31-15 record last season, reaching the quarterfinals of the Region VI tournament.

“We've had a lot of support from our administration,”Reed said. “They've given us the resources to be successful.”
