OSWEGO, Kan. - A pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter helped Fairland hurdle Oswego, Kan., 12-6 here Friday night.

Oswego had led 6-0 at the half on a 14-yard touchdown run by Ethan Spore.

Neither team scored again until the fourth, when Fairland got the equalizer on an 18-yard run by K.C. Jones. A pass for the conversion failed.

The Owls (1-2) then got what turned out to be the game winner when Jones teamed with Gunnar Anderson on a 40-yard TD strike.

The ball had skipped off tight Tyren Jones and Anderson caught it and raced the final 25 yards.

"Justin (defensive coordinator Justin Goins) did a really good job planning how to defend these guys," Fairland coach Jerry Johnson said. "They came right at us."

The Owls who generated 228 yards in total offense, had only one turnover.

"That really helped," Johnson said.

Fairland hosts Chouteau Friday in a non-district game.
