FAIRLAND - Outslugging Fairland 12-10, Oklahoma Union chalked up an 8-5 win over Fairland in a non-conference softball game here Wednesday.

The Lady Cougars scored runs in each of the final five innings to pull away.

Fairland created the final margin with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Kelsey Campbell tripled with one out and scored on a single by Kayla Kowal.

OU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on a run in the third.

The Lady Owls got their first run in the bottom of the fourth. Courtney Summers; Bekky Gebhart and Katie Schubert all had one-out singles. After a strikeout, Kourtney Kowal delivered a run-scoring single

Each team scored three times in the fifth.

Jessica Blalock walked for the Lady Owls, then Kelsey Campbell singled. Brooke Kerns delivered a two-run double Summers drove in the third run of the inning with a ground ball to short.

OU pushed across single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Campbell headed up the 10-hit Fairland attack with a triple, double and single. Gebhart added two singles.

Kerns doubled while Summers, Schubert, Kourtney Kowal and Kayla Kowal each had a single.

The Lady Owls travel to Commerce Monday for a Lucky 7 Conference game.
