COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — A 21-8 advantage in the second quarter helped Andover, Kan., coast to a 65-41 victory over Quapaw Thursday in the first round of the Interstate Classic Basketball Tournament here.

The Quapaw boys suffered a 66-22 loss to host Coffeyville in a late game Thursday night.

The Lady Wildcats face the Coffeyville JV girls today at 3:30 p.m. in a consolation game at Nellis Hall on the campus of Coffeyville Community College.

Quapaw’s boys face either the Wichita (Kan.) Defenders or Andover in an 8:45 p.m. consolation game at CCC.

Andover’s girls jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter of Thursday’s tournament opener against the Lady Wildcats. Andover rolled into the break with a 37-17 advantage then outscored Quapaw 15-13 and 13-11 in the final two quarters.

Catherine Cramer had 13 points for Andover, which also got nine each from Hayley Cooper and Taylor Pilson.

Halie Judd scored 13 points for the Lady Wildcats.
