FAIRLAND - Devyn McCorkell scored all five touchdowns as Fairland Junior High rolled to a 32-8 victory over Foyil here Monday night.

McCorkell, who carried the ball only nine times, now has 11 touchdowns in two games.

He scored on runs of 25, 18, 45, 55 and 4 yards.

McCorkell also completed a pass to Kyler Vannoster for a conversion following his 18-yard run.

"The only time we were really using him was in third-and-long and fourth-and-long situations as were experimenting trying other people to run the ball due to we only have 14 players," Fairland coach Lee Bluejacket said. "We only have five players with any real football experience. When its hot out, it is a real strain on the kids physically as well as mentally playing iron man football as the majority of the team never left the field the entire night.

"The thing I am most proud of as a coach is that the boys worked as a team all night as we had several injuries to players such as broken fingers, broke nose, pulled muscles and sprained ankles, and not one of them came out of the game more than one play as required by OSSAA rules," Bluejacket said. "These boys showed toughness and played till the end, never quitting or taking the easy way out as we see so much of these days. This is true character that is instilled in these young men by the people that raise them and that's why they will always be successful."
