GRAVETTE, Ark. - Miami's Taylor Stepp won the shot put in a junior high girls track meet here Tuesday.

Stepp had a winning throw of 32-10. She also was third in the shot put at 67-1.

The Lady Wardogs finished seventh with 33 points. Siloam Springs, Ark., was first with 93 points.

Cynthia Vandiver was fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 70.43 seconds.

Mary Crosby placed fifth in the 800 at 2:58.89.

Jenny Simpson was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a time of 62.95 seconds.

The Lady Wardogs' 4x400- and 4x800-meter relay teams were sixth.

Crosby, Ashley Burkey, Vandiver and Madi Barnes posted a time of 4:55.5 in the 4x400 relay.

Raegan Panter, Tori Lofgren, Amanda Powers and Tiffany Freeman had a time of 13:15.7 in the 4x800 relay.

Miami travels to Vinita for a middle school meet on Saturday.

That also will mark the season opener for the Miami High School varsity track teams.
