KILGORE - For the second straight year, Kilgore College's football team knocked off an undefeated, top-ranked Blinn team, this time needing three overtimes to notch a 20-17 victory Saturday at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.

The game was the equivalent of a heavyweight bout, with each team trading blows, but neither willing to give in.

Kilgore emerged victorious on a 37-yard field goal from Rico Casas after the Ranger defense held the high-powered Blinn offense off the scoreboard for three straight overtime possessions.

Last year KC defeated Blinn at Brenham, 40-39, on a late field goal by Martin Vazquez.

Blinn entered the game averaging 35.6 points per game, but managed only 244 total yards for four quarters and three overtime possessions.

KC piled up 340 yards in a contest that was dominated by defense.
