SARCOXIE, Mo. — Commerce rolled into the championship game of the Sarcoxie Tournament with a 50-40 victory over Strafford, Mo., here Thursday evening.

The Lady Tigers tackle defending champ Exeter, Mo., in Saturday’s 4:30 p.m. title game.

Exeter crushed Diamond, Mo., 57-27 in Friday’s other semifinal.

The CHS boys play Joplin (Mo.) College Heights Christian today at 8 p.m. then battle Exeter Saturday at 6 p.m.

They beat Sarcoxie Monday night.

"We could have played better, but I was mostly pleased with most phases of our game," Commerce coach Jerry Myers said. "We didn’t play as well in the fourth quarter because we were tired."

The Lady Tigers, posting their eighth straight victory, outscored Strafford 21-10 in a first half that saw Commerce limit the Lady Indians to one offensive rebound.

Strafford held a 16-15 edge in the third quarter then each team scored 14 points in the fourth.

Courtney Watson had 20 points for CHS. She was 12 of 14 at the free throw line. She was joined in double figures by Mandy Watson, who finished with 18.

"The girls are doing the things we’re asking them to do," Myers said.

Emily Oberbeck scored 11 for Strafford.
