The Welch boys' summer league, in its seventh year, will have 13 games on Thursday and 14 more on Friday.
Quapaw, which will host a girls' league, will have games on Tuesdays and Thursdays through June.
"This way, we get it over with and give the players and coaches some time off," said Josh Schertz, who is coordinating the Welch league. "The kids are spread so thin in the summer with baseball, football camps and passing leagues and basketball. They don't have any summer.
"But you have to do this to keep up with everyone else. You fall behind if you don't do it."
Joining the Wildcats in their league will be Miami, Quapaw, Commerce, Wyandotte, Vinita, Oklahoma Union, Watts and South Coffeyville. Foyil was supposed to play in the league but dropped out at the last minute.
