ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. - Scoring runs in six of nine innings, Northeastern A&M's seventh ranked Golden Norsemen earned an 11-8 victory Wednesday afternoon over Cowley County Community College at Tigers Field.

With the victory coach Roger Ward's Norsemen are 12-4 on the season while coach Darin Burrough's Cowley County Tigers are 9-10 on the year.

Weather permitting, the Golden Norse are scheduled to return to Homa Thomas Field on Saturday for a 1 p.m. double-header with Central Lakes College of Brainard, Minn.

Consecutive singles by Eric Ailey and Ryan Wilkenson started a rally for the Tigers in the bottom of the second inning. Tyler Rolland followed with a RBI single scoring Ailey for a 1-0 Cowley lead.

A double by Josh Schnable and a fielder's choice by Nick Shiplett forged a 1-1 tie for NEO in the top of the third inning.

Kevin Meyers singled to center to start a two-run fourth inning for the Golden Norsemen. After stealing second and third, Meyers scored on a RBI double to left-center by Calvin Ellis. Schnable reached on an infield single while Ellis came around to score on an error by Cowley catcher Ailey.

After Ethan Elroy walked in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ailey singled. Rolland singled scoring Elroy for a 3-2 deficit.

Dom Samyn walked and Ellis followed with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to give the Norsemen a 5-2 cushion.

The Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a walk by Elroy and a two-out RBI single by Rolland.

Walks to Pete Hoyt and Mark Podlas led to a run for the Norse in the top of the seventh inning. Both runners successfully executed a double steal before Cody Riley walked to fill the bases. Samyn hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring Hoyt for a 6-3 Norse margin.

With one out in the top of the eighth inning, Shiplett singled, stole both second and third before scoring on a RBI double by Podlas.

Pinch hitter Tyler Munger walked to start a two-run bottom of the eighth for the Tigers. After Wilkinson reached on an error by Meyers at shortstop, Rolland doubled scoring Munger. A fielder's chhoice by Dalton Piecukonis scored Wilkinson for a 7-5 deficit.

NEO tallied four runs in the top oof the ninth after Riley reached on an error to start the outburst. Samyn doubled before Riley scored on a wild pitch. Schnable doubled scoring Samyn. Another Cowley error allowed C.J. Wilcox to reach. Shiplett delivered a RBI single scoring Schnable. After Hoyt walked to fill the bases, Podlas singled scoring Wilcox for an 11-5 advantage.

Cowley County struck for three runs in the bottom of the ninth after pinch hitter Fernando Martinez reached on Meyers' second error of the game. Walks by Jaden Chappell and Wilkinson filled the bases. Rolland walked scoring Martinez before Cris Roman doubled to rightt-center scoring both Chappell and Wilkinson.

Schnable and Podlas collected three hits each to lead the 12-hit Golden Norse offense. Shiplett and Ellis added two hits each.

Rolland turned in a 4-for-4 performance to lead the eight-hit Cowley County attack.
