CLAREMORE - A 14-run second inning helped Welch crush Claremore Christian 20-0 here Monday.

The win was the eighth straight for Welch on the season.

They sent 20 batters to the plate during the second-inning explosion.

Welch had already jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Kalleigh Chrz and Kelsie Smith had RBI singles and another run scored on a wild pitch.

The second started innocently, as Mariah Armstrong grounded out to third.

Shelby Tracy walked, then Katy McClurg drilled a RBI double.

Jordan Amos followed with another double to increase the momentum.

By the time Tracy was retired after her third at-bat in the inning, the Lady Wildcats had collected eight hits and took advantage of five Claremore Christian errors.

Welch sent another 10 batters to the plate in the third, scoring four more times.

The Lady Wildcats finished with 14 hits. Chrz and Kirsten Leppla had three each while McClurg, Jordan Amos and Smith had two each.

Samantha Smith and Sierra Hankins each chipped in with a single.

Chrz had a perfect three innings, striking out five of the nine batters she faced.

Welch travels to Porter today for a varsity-JV double-header.
