Miami is one of four Oklahoma teams entered in the Shootout of the South, a 7-on-7 high school football tournament this weekend at Little Rock, Ark.
“We feel real good about going over this year,” MHS head coach Chris Risenhoover said. “We've got a lot more confidence.”
Miami posted a 5-4 record last year and was 9-3-1 while winning its pool in 2005.
The Wardogs will compete in Pool 4 with Shreveport (La.) Captain Shreve (11:35 a.m.), Russellville, Ark. (12:45 p.m.), Little Rock Robinson (1:55 p.m.), Rogers, Ark. (3:05 p.m., and Magnolia, Ark. (4:50 p.m.).
There will be bracket play on Saturday.
“It's always fun,” Risenhoover said. “We see a lot of talented kids and there are a lot of good programs there.”
Other Oklahoma teams entered are Oklahoma City Heritage Hall, Tulsa Lincoln Christian and Tulsa Metro Christian.
Others entered are Allen, Texas, Dallas American Heritage as well as Arkansas entries Springdale Har-Ber, Springdale, Bryant, Dumas, Warren, Little Rock Parkview, Harding Academy, Lakeside, Fayetteville, Fountain Lake, McClellan and host Pulaski Academy.
