Weston Ireland won the saddle bronc riding during Saturday night's go-round at the Heart of America Rodeo.
Ireland, of Sallisaw, picked up a score of 81 on the night's first ride. That bumped Cooper McBride of Big Springs, Neb., out of the top spot at the PRCA-sanctioned rodeo.
McBride had posted an 80 on Friday. Cort Scheer of Elsmere, Neb., wound up third at 78.
Yet another Nebraskan, Travis Sturdy of Palmyra, had a 77 during Saturday's go.
Times and scores on Saturday were impacted by a heavy rainfall Saturday morning that dumped around an inch on the Miami area.
That left the Miami Fairgrounds arena sloppy in a number of places. As a result, only half of the 12 scheduled barrel racers took part.
Charmaine Miller of Seymour, Mo., had the best run of the night, 16.89 seconds. By comparison, Nakea Maddox of Benton, Ark., had a 16.35-second run on a dry arena floor Friday night.
Tracy Nowlin of Nowata, currently sixth in the circuit standings, was timed in 16.98 seconds Saturday night.
The best time in the tie down roping on Saturday was a 14.3 by Drew Clark of Colcord.
Friday's top time was 9.5 seconds by Bill Warner of Muldrow.
Clay Hurst of Davis and Joseph Harrison of Roff moved into third in the team roping with a 6.1-second ride on Saturday.
Colby Bunch of Bonham, Texas, and Rance Butler of Ardmore sloshed their way to a 6.8-second performance, also on Saturday in the team roping.
The leaders were J.D. Bacon of Ochelata and Ernie Bacon of Ada. They were timed in 5.7 seconds on Friday.
All five of Saturday's bullriders - Sam Chenoweth, Bill Williams, Cooper Kanngiesser, Lucas Dick and Ricky Ritter - were tossed before they could make an 8-second ride.
As a result, an 85 by Owasso's Paul Hixson wound up being tops for the weekend.
