LENAPAH - Quapaw opened the 2007 season with a loss. The Wildcats would love to finish things off on an upbeat note.

They have a chance for that Thursday night when they tackle Oklahoma Union in a District A-7 battle here.

The Wildcats slipped to 2-7 with a 38-22 loss to Springfield (Mo.) Christian last Friday in a non-district clash.

Quapaw dropped a 31-13 decision to Fairland in its last district outing two weeks ago.

Junior quarterback Josh Lohn accounted for all five touchdowns for the Chargers, including the game-winner with 6:28 remaining on a 1-yard keeper.

The Wildcats' lone district win came a month ago against Copan.

Oklahoma Union fell off the pace in A-7 when Fairland notched a 38-22 victory last Friday.

The win all but sealed a playoff berth for the Owls as the No. 4 team in the district.

A key game Friday finds Afton at Ketchum. The winner nails down second place and a home-field advantage for the first round of the playoffs.
