GROVE The Will Rogers Middle School eighth-grade football team remained unbeaten thanks to a 36-6 victory over Grove Thursday night.

Grove pocketed a 32-6 victory in seventh-grade play, then claimed a 6-0 decision in the freshman battle.

The eighth-grade Wardogs (3-0) got things rolling when Christian Folks broke loose on an 80-yard touchdown run with 2:47 left in the first quarter. Tyler Choate toed the two-point extra point.

Hunter Forkum teamed with Gabe Simons on a 3-yard TD pass with 6:49 left in the half. Choate's kick was good, giving Will Rogers a 16-0 advantage.

A fumble recovery by Simons set up a 37-yard touchdown run by Folks with 5:20 until intermission.

Forkum teamed with Folks on a 51-yard touchdown pass with 43 seconds left in the half. Choate's PAT kick made it 30-0.

Grove scored with 4:12 left in the third quarter, but the conversion failed.

Folks capped the scoring for the Dogs with a 59-yard run with 59 seconds left in the third period.

Folks finished with about 210 yards rushing and he also had about 60 yards receiving while scoring four times.

Grove jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter of the seventh-grade contest, then padded the lead to 20-0 in the second frame.

After the Ridgerunners had scored to push the lead to 26-0, Will Rogers (0-3) got its only touchdown on an 8-yard pass from Kameron Jinks to Daniel Salazar with no time remaining in the third quarter.

Grove scored its final touchdown with 2:20 left in the game.

The only points in the freshman game came on a stripped ball by the Grove defense that was returned for a touchdown with 3:25 left in the first quarter.

The Miami teams travel to Vinita on Thursday.
