A pair of local athletes have transferred to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

Tight end Chris Johnson of Miami has transferred to NSU from Central Arkansas while tight end Logan Cawyer of Commerce made the move from the University of Tulsa.

Cawyer (6-4, 255) played in 14 total games at TU, all as a redshirt freshman in 2007.

Used mostly for blocking, Tulsa’s tight ends caught only three passes in’07.

He was a four-year letterman at Commerce, starting four years at linebacker and three at tight end.

Cawyer, a health and physical education major, will be a junior at NSU.

Johnson (6-4) started as a freshman at Central Arkansas, catching six passes for two touchdowns.

He was the District 4A-3 special team player of the year as a senior.

Johnson, who was a volunteer coach at Miami High School this past season, plans to major in criminal justice.

He’s a sophomore in eligibility at NSU.
