WYANDOTTE - Nine was the lucky number for Wyandotte Wednesday as the Lady Bears scored 9-0 and 9-4 wins over Fairland in the Class 2A District xx fast-pitch softball tournament.

Winning pitcher Kourtney Leppla struck out 14 and walked one while scattering five hits.

The Lady Bears grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning and coasted.

They picked up one run in the fourth and broke the game open with a five-run rally in the sixth.

Wyandotte closed out the scoring with a run in the seventh.

Alex Lyons had three hits and an RBI for the Lady Bears, who also got two hits and four RBIs from Rachel Anderson. Ashlee Waybright chipped in with a double and single.

Mykah Meador had a three-run homer in the sixth.

Taryn Gray and Yeager each had s single.

Torie Weaver collected a double and two singles for the Lady Owls.

Lauren McCabe and Whitney Dushane each had a single for Fairland.

In the clincher, Wyandotte took a 1-0 lead in the first and padded that to 5-0 in the second, then scored two more in the third.

Fairland narrowed the gap to 7-3 in the third.

The Lady Bears scored one time in the fifth and each team got a run in the sixth.

Meador had two singles while Lyons, Morgan Weisinger, Laura Brown and Waybright chipped in with a single each.

Leanna Prater collected a pair of singles for Fairland.

Weaver and Lindsay Goodman added a single each.

Leppla struck out two and allowed four hits, then turned things over to Gray in the seventh.

Gray logged one strikeout.
