ENID - Faced with playing five games in the next eight days, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen start the grind Monday with a visit to the Mabee Center on the campus of Northern Oklahoma College-Enid for an 8 p.m. contest.

Longtime head coach Greg Shamburg has guided the Northern Oklahoma Jets to a 3-5 season record.

The Jets have lost five straight following a 92-81 loss to Barton County, Kan. on Nov. 17 in El Dorado.

Last season, the Jets failed to qualify for the Region II post-season tournament after finishing 3-5 in the Bi-State West and 14-16 overall.

Squaring off in the NEO Fieldhouse last season, the Golden Norsemen exploded for 50-second half points en route to an 83-67 victory.

Tulio Cobos led the way with 20 points, followed by Dominique Gaines with 19, Tremaine Luellen 18, Malcolm Miller 11 and John Boyd 10 points.

York Sims led the Jets in scoring with 13 points along with Andre Vaughn 12 and Ty Pace 11 points.

Cobos scored 22 points to lead the Norsemen to a 72-56 victory over the Jets in Enid's Mabee Center.

Sims led the Jets with 18 points while Matt Monroe added 12 and Robert Johnson contributed 10 points.

Averaging 82.5 points per game, the Jets feature six sophomores on their 15-player roster.

Freshman Jeremy Lay (6-0 of Oklahoma City Southeast) and sophomore Walter Brewer (6-3 of Oklahoma City Southeast) are possible starters at guards for the Jets.

Lay leads the Jets with 48 assists and 19 steals while Brewer is averaging 8.3 points with 19 assists 11 steals.

Sophomore Reggie Mathis (6-3 of Jenks) and freshman Brent Leduff (5-10 of Baton Rouge, La.) will start in the Golden Norse backcourt.

Mathis is averaging 9.9 points with seven assists and 10 steals. Leduff leads the Golden Norse with 20 assists and 16 steals while averaging 8.3 points per game.

Probable starters on the perimeter for the Jets are sophomore Andre Vaughn (6-5 of Albuquerque, N.M.) and freshman Wayne Runnels (6-6 of Watonga).

Vaughn leads the Jets with a 16.9 scoring mark while averaging six rebounds per game.

Runnels leads the team with an 8.4 rebounding average while scoring 13.1 points per contest.

Veterans Dominique Gaines (6-2 of Muskogee) and Kenneth Clayton (6-7 of Houston, Texas) will matchup on the perimeter for NEO.

Gaines leads the Norse with a 7.2 rebounding average and a 14.2 scoring mark. Clayton is averaging 7.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Goining up against each other in the post position are sophomores Ty Pace for the Jets and Tulio Cobos for the Golden Norse.

Pace (6-7 of Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 8.9 rebounds and 12.1 points.

Cobos (6-5 of Los Teques, Venezuela) is averaging 5.3 rebounds and 13.4 points for NEO.
