QUAPAW - Quapaw improved to 9-0 on the season Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Oklahoma Union in a Lucky 7 Conference fast-pitch softball game.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, but Oklahoma Union tied the game in the second.

Quapaw took charge in the fourth by scoring four times.

The visitors got their final run in the top of the sixth inning.

Winning pitcher Sierra Burkybile struck out three and walked only one while scattering four hits.

"She pitched really well," Quapaw coach Russ Heffley said. "She was a little flat last night (in Monday's 8-0 win over Wyandotte), but she really hit her spots well tonight."

Burkybile helped herself at the plate, getting a double and single. Brianna Ball tripled and Kayera Smith, Alex Hart and Sarah Reeves added a single each.

Quapaw is idle until Saturday, when it plays Depew and Preston in the Kellyville Festival.
