Two members of the Northeastern A&M Golden Norseman football team have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association 2007 preseason all-American team.
Former Miami High School all-stater Mark Chesnut received first team recognition while placekicker-punter Jeremy Knott earned second team honors.
Chesnut (6-3, 285) was an NJCAA Academic All-American as a freshman after starting all nine games at offensive tackle for coach Rob Green's Golden Norsemen.
Knott (6-4, 185 of Tulsa East Central). As a freshman, Knott led the SWJCFC in punting with a 40.2 average on 43 attempts. He ranked third on the NEO team with 40 total points which included seven field goals and a perfect 19 of 19 extra points.
Both players received All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference honorable mention after the Golden Norse finished 3-6.
Their record includes two forfeits for an ineligible player on the season.
Approximately 120 players are expected to report Tuesday, Aug. 7, to start preseason workouts with the Golden Norse.
