The first in a series of Thursday night races at the Miami BMX will begin this week.

Registration will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with competition beginning at about 7:30 p.m.

The summer series will run through Sept. 2, according to Cindy Riley, secretary-treasurer of Miami BMX, Inc.

The entry fee is $7 per rider. Ribbons will be awarded to the placers.

“We will most likely not have too many out of town riders on Thursday,” Riley said. Officials are expecting between 20 and 30 riders.

A regular race is scheduled for Saturday and the double-point Race for Life is on tap for Sunday.

That event had been postponed due to the weather last month.

The Race for Life will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
