FAIRLAND - Tocha Tyler of Vinita tossed a two-hit shutout as the Lady Hornets chalked up a 5-0 victory over Fairland here Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, then picked up another two runs in the second.

Vinita scored a final run in the fourth.

Fairland threatened in the bottom of the first inning when Kelsey Campbell singled and went to second on a grounder by Kayla Kowal. After a strikeout, Campbell stole third, but was left stranded.

The Lady Owls' only other hit came in the bottom of the fourth when Courtney Summers singled with two out. She was cut down trying to steal second.

Campbell suffered the loss. She allowed eight hits and was victimized by five errors.

Vinita had potential runs cut down at home in the second and fifth innings.

Fairland hosts Grove today in varsity-JV play starting at 4:30 p.m.
