Former Northeastern A&M Lady Norse basketball coach Randy Gipson has been named a similar position at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.

Gipson recently completed his 13th season at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He's the school's all-time leader in women's basketball victories (259).

Gipson will be formally introduced at a 10 a.m. Press conference Thursday, April 5 in Maryville.

He will be just the sixth head coach at Northwest.

“I’m really pleased and excited to be Wren’s and President (John) Jasinski’s choice,” Gipson told the Maryville Daily Forum. “I’m also honored and humbled to have this opportunity. I have tremendous respect for the athletic department, University and Maryville community. Coach (Gene) Steinmeyer led his team to great heights at Northwest and I hope I can build on that success.”

Additional details will be in Tuesday's print edition of the Miami News-Record.
