BROKEN ARROW – Northeastern A&M posted a pair of wins in the Midwest Juco Classic on what Lady Norse coach Eric Iverson called "an average day."
The 10th-ranked Lady Norse (10-3) topped Allen County, Kan., 12-4, then turned back Neosho County, Kan., 7-4 in games at Arrowhead Park here.
The sweep ran NEO's current wining streak to seven straight. A Thursday double-header with Seminole State was postponed by weather.
Their game with Marshalltown, Iowa, was cancelled when a van carrying Marshalltown players crashed on its way to Oklahoma.
"We won two games, but we weren't real emotional," Iverson said. "We really played pretty average."
The Lady Norse are scheduled to play Des Moines (Iowa) Area Community College, Cowley, Kan., and Garden City, Kan., but that's doubtful since heavy rains are forecast for northeastern Oklahoma on Sunday.
NEO trailed 3-2 through three innings, but took the lead for good in the fourth on a two-run single by Megan Sullivan and an RBI base hit by Jamie King.
The Lady Norse bumped the lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Shelbie Watson blasted a two-run homer over the center field fence.
Neosho County created the final margin with a run in the sixth.
Leadoff hitter Lindy Fluman had three singles to head up the NEO offense. Sullivan and King each had two hits while Watson, Nicole Workman, Emily Walters, Allyson Pogue and Courtney Clark chipped in with one hit each.
Workman picked up the victory in the circle, striking out five while walking four in six innings. She allowed seven hits, including a leadoff homer by Mackensie Sanders to start the third.
Shelbie Wagnon threw the seventh, fanning two of the three batters she faced.
NEO 12, Allen County 4
Candace Monigold went 4-for-4 with a homer, triple and three RBIs as part of a 15-hit Lady Norse attack.
Northeastern A&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on Monigold's triple and a single by Sullivan.
The Lady Norse made it 5-0 in the bottom of the second when Walters drilled an RBI single and Watson doubled home two runs.
Allen County narrowed the lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the third, but two-run homers by King and Monigold highlighted a six-run rally by NEO in the home half of the inning.
Watson also had a run-scoring single for the Lady Norse.
The final run for Northeastern A&M came in the fifth on a passed ball.
Watson had a double and two singles with three RBIs while Sullivan, King and Clark each had two hits. Alicia Eger and Walters each had a hit.
Wagnon fanned five and walked two over 4 1/3 innings. Kylee Cole got the final two out on a fly ball and a grounder.
Paige Rothwell had a pair of singles to lead the Lady Devils' six-hit attack.
The Lady Norse return to action Thursday when they travel to Poteau to face Carl Albert in a 2 p.m. double-header.
