Two second quarter touchdowns sent the Miami JV Wardogs on their way to a 27-12 victory over Jay Monday night at Robertson Field.
Casey Carson sprinted around left end for a 52-yard touchdown 30 seconds into the second quarter. The PAT kick was good, giving Miami a 7-0 advantage.
Jay took the ensuing kickoff and drove for a score, getting a 15-yard slant pass.
However, Jimmy Sharp intercepted the conversion pass, leaving the Wardogs with a 7-6 advantage.
Carson teamed with Tyler Sourjohn on a 41-yard TD strike with 68 seconds left in the first half.
The PAT kick was off the mark, leaving Miami with a 13-6 edge.
Sourjohn and Carson teamed up again in the third quarter, this time on a 45-yard bomb. A successful conversion bumped the lead to 20-6.
The Bulldogs mounted a threat late in the third quarter, but Grant Bigby caused a fumble that was recovered by MHS' Colin Robinson.
Jimmy Sharp scored for the Wardogs with 7:06 left in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard run. The PAT kick pushed the score to 27-6.
Jay scored on a 4-yard run with 49 seconds left.
The Wardogs conclude their season Monday night, hosting Joplin.
