MCLOUD - Fairland senior Chuck Cassinelli received an invitation to compete in the national high school powerlifting meet in Oklahoma City Saturday after being named the outstanding lightweight lifter in the small school division of the OCA state powerlifting meet.
Cassinelli won the small school 181-pound class with a three-lift total of 1,315 pounds. This was the second straight year he's won the title.
Cassinelli will compete Saturday on an all-star team comprised of other medalists at the state meet, sponsored by the Oklahoma Coaches Association.
He had lifts of 515 pounds in the squat, 275 in the bench press and 525 in the deadlift.
FHS junior Tony Short was fourth in the 181-pound class with a total of 1,180 pounds.
Junior Spencer Anderson was 14th out of 26 lifters in the 181-pound class with a three-lift effort of 980 pounds. He was an at-large entrant following regional competition.
Sophomore Trent Ryan wound up 11th among 26 lifters in the 145-pound division. He had a personal best lift of 915 pounds.
Freshman Troy Jones was fifth in the 132-pound class with a three-lift total of 840 pounds.
The Owls finished ninth overall in the small school class and were fourth in Class A, behind, Panama, Pocola and Gore.
