Dogs’ Brock finishes second

COWETA — Miami’s Jimmy Brock finished second at heavyweight during the Coweta Invitational wrestling tournament.

Brock suffered a 3-2 loss to S. Bucktrot of Bristow in Saturday’s championship round.

The Wardogs’ Blaine Fields was third at 140 pounds, Colby Anderson fourth at 130, Eli Hale fifth at 112 and Charles Wilson sixth at 145.

Miami competes in a tournament at Pryor on Friday and Saturday.

Jones wins at Hilldale lift meet

MUSKOGEE — Fairland’s Troy Jones took first place in the 132-pound class Friday at a powerlifting meet hosted by Hilldale High School.

Jones is the defending state champ at 132 pounds.

Fairland will compete in a meet at Watts on Feb. 5 and at Westville on Feb. 12 before entering the Lucky 7 Conference meet Feb. 16 at Quapaw.

Soccer registration continues

A registration session for the Miami Regional Soccer Association will be today and Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. at Waylan’s KuKu.

The program is for players ages 4 through 18. A player must be 4 by Jan. 31.

All new players must provide a copy of their birth certificates.

A final registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Civic Center.

All spring registrations must be submitted by Feb. 1.

Pulled pork dinner planned

The annual Boss Hog pulled pork dinner, which will benefit the Miami High School baseball and softball teams, will be held Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at the high school.

Cost is $5 for a dinner of pulled pork, beans, dessert and drink.

Flag football tourney set

VINITA — A flag football tournament open to participants of all ages is scheduled here Saturday, Jan. 30.

Format for the event is 4-on-4, but rosters may include up to six players. Games will be played to 36 points of 25 minutes, whichever comes first.

Entry fee is $100 per team and each team is guaranteed three games. The entry deadline is Jan. 25. To register a team or obtain more information, call (918) 852-9625.

Benefit basketball game set

KETCHUM — The Harlem Ambassadors will play at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ketchum High School gym.

Proceeds benefit the Grand Lake Area Chamber and the Ketchum Back Pack program.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

The doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
