Freshman right-hander Alex Gilley limited the Eastern State College Lady Mountaineers to one run on six combined hits Saturday as the Northeastern A&M Lady Norse swept a double-header 3-1 and 6-0 on the NEO diamond.

With the sweep, coach Eric Iverson's 10th-ranked Lady Norse are 2-0 in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference and 9-3 on the season. The losses dropped coach Andy Mace's Lady Mountaineers to 0-4 in the conference and 2-9 overall.

The Lady Norse travel to Warner on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. OCAC twinbill with arch rival Connors State College.

NEO returns home Thursday for a conference double-header with Seminole State College starting at 4 p.m.

Gilley, from Broken Arrow, limited Eastern to one run on four hits in pitching a complete game in Saturday's opener.

After four scoreless innings, the Lady Norse grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pinch hitter Alicia Eger walked to start the inning.

Megan Higgins reached on an error by Eastern shortstop Arianna Jones. Emily Walters bounced into a fielder's choice before Miranda Kiser scored Eger on a sacrifice fly to left.

A single by Courtney Clark and a two-run homer by Lindy Fluman gave the Lady Norse a 3-0 cushion in the bottom of the sixth inning.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Danielle Huval singled for Eastern. After Katlyn Kern was hit by a pitch and Shalyn Riebel walked to fill the bases, Brandi Donovan singled, scoring Huval.

Emily Little grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to end the threat.

Fluman collected a double and home run to lead the six-hit NEO offense. Candice Monigold added a double along with singles by Eger, Walters and Clark.

Gilley increased her record to 4-2 on the season with a two-hit shutout in the nightcap. Riebel collected both singles for the Lady Mountaineers while Gilley struck out two and walked one.

Allyson Pogue walked and scored on a RBI triple by Brittany Watson to give the Lady Norse a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

With two outs in the fifth inning, Fluman singled to right to start a four-run NEO outburst.

After Watson singled, both runners scored on a homer to right-center by Monigold. Megan Sullivan followed with a solo home run for a 5-0 Lady Norse cushion.

A walk to Walters, a double by Allyson Pogue and a RBI single to right by Clark concluded NEO's scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Watson led NEO's eight-hit attack with a single and triple as four of the Lady Norse hits were for extra bases.
