KETCHUM — Fairland hoped to battle back through the losers’ bracket of the Class 2A regional tournament here.

The Owls outslugged CHS 9-8 in a first-round game but suffered a 15-0 loss to second-ranked Oktaha in the winners’ bracket final on Thursday.

Commerce beat Ketchum in a late elimination game.

The schedule for today has been moved up for a noon start. The Owls  play either Commerce or the Warriors in the first game, then the survivor faces Oktaha.

A second game to determine who advances is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.

“Every time we’ve played Commerce, its been a tough game,” Fairland coach Jerry Johnson said. “They seem to always play us well.”

The lead see-sawed back and forth, with the Owls taking a 9-6 lead in the top of the seventh.

Commerce came back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to create the final margin.
