JAY - Four runs in the top of the seventh inning helped Miami Post 147 eke out a 6-5 victory over Bartlesville in the championship game of the 3 Rivers Conference tournament here Saturday afternoon.

The rally came after Bartlesville had taken a 5-2 lead by scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth inning against Miami starting pitcher Jared White.

“We had some things go our way, Miami coach Chad Ross said. “We got some timely hits.

Miami had beaten Claremore 20-1 and Jay 7-4 in earlier games in the tournament.

Brett Abell started the Post 147 seventh inning with a walk. White doubled then Grant Longcrier drove in a run with a base hit.

Nick Jones tied the game with a RBI single and Casey Robertson gave Miami the lead with a single.

Josh White got Post 147 an insurance run with a two-out single.

Miami reliever Joe Pilkinton, who retired three of the four batters he faced to close out the Bartlesville sixth, was equally effective in the seventh to get the win.

Pilkinton got the first two batters on a called third strike and a popup to Jones behind the plate.

After a walk, the game ended on a grounder.

“Jared threw really well the first five, but I think he just got tired, Ross said. “Joe came in and did a really good job.

Miami (16-2) now will host Grove and Vinita Thursday and Friday in American Legion district play.

Post 147 jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third on a double by Abell.

Bartlesville jumped out to a 2-1 advantage in the fourth, but Miami tied the game in the fifth.

Luke Treece was hit by a pitch to start the rally. He scored when Pilkinton reached on a one-out error.

Abell and Longcrier each had two hits for Post 147. James Pickens, Jared White, Jones, Robertson and Josh White each had a hit.

Jared White struck out 14 of the first 21 Bartlesville batters he faced.
