JAY - The Will Rogers Middle School boys' basketball team used a 16-9 edge in the second half to claim a 24-21 victory over Grove Monday night in the first round of the Jay tournament.

Grove jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the first quarter then carried a 12-8 advantage into the break.

The Wardogs made their move in the third quarter, outscoring Grove 9-3. They secured the victory with a 7-6 edge in the final stanza.

Kaleb Eden's 13 points topped the scoring for Will Rogers. Matt Walker added five points, followed by A.J. Gambill with four, Billy Baird with three, Jesse Adams with two and Spencer Neal with one.

The Wardogs played in the semifinals Tuesday. The finals are today.
