Erupting for four goals in the first half, Northeastern A&Mís Lady Norse soccer team snapped a six-match losing streak with a 9-0 shutout Tuesday afternoon over Northeast Texas College of Mt. Pleasant, Texas on the NEO pitch.

With the victory the Lady Norse are 2-7 while the Lady Eagles slide to 1-6.†

Coach Lisa Bellís Lady Norse begin a five-match road trip Friday with a 2 p.m. match at Pratt (Kan.) Community College.†

The Lady Norse play an 11 a.m. match Saturday at Dodge City (Kan.) Community College.

"We took a lot of shots today, which is what weíve been working on in practice," Bell said. "Our girls worked together and concentrated on some weak areas.

"Iím pleased with the way we played as a team," Bell said. "I think they are ready to go on the road."

Freshman mid-fielder Lissa Hamrick started the Lady Norse scoring with an assist from sophomore forward Kathryn Sunny early in the first half.

The duo combined to give NEO a 2-0 lead as Sunny scored on a pass from Hamrick less than two minutes later.

A corner pass from Hamrick to sophomore mid-fielder Becca Fry gave the Lady Norse a 3-0 cushion before Fry tacked on a goal as NEO carried a 4-0 lead to the locker room at intermission.

Back-to-back goals by freshman forward Jen Mayson and Fry allowed the Lady Norse to build a 6-0 margin early in the second half.

Hamrick earned a hat-trick on a goal with a pass from Mayson midway through the second half for a 7-0 cushion.

Veteran defender Mariah Brazz connected on a penalty kick for the Lady Norse before freshman forward Brittany Befus scored as time wound down.
