JAY - Jay rallied from a four-run deficit to claim a 10-9 victory over Miami in a Verdigris Valley Conference softball game here Saturday.
The Lady Wardogs are at home Monday, hosting Pryor in a 4:30 p.m. varsity-JV twinbill at Turner Field.
Miami opened up a 9-6 lead in Saturday's game with a run in the top of the fifth. Lacy Morgan led off with a single, went to second on a passed ball and third on a sacrifice by Kylee Carder. Jessica Kelly got the RBI.
However, the wheels fell off in the bottom of the seventh, when Jay staged a two-out rally.
The Lady Bulldogs took advantage of a one-out single, a fielder's choice, an RBI double, a walk, an error and a game-winning sing.e
Miami jumped out to a 3-0 lead on back-to-back doubles by Courtnei Young and Shelby Jurgensmeyer. Emily Cline started the rally with a one-out single and moved into scoring position when Veronica Arizpe reached on an error.
Young drove in the first run then Jurgensmeyer picked up the next two RBIs.
Jay got three runs of its own in the second and Miami carried a 7-6 lead in to the fourth.
The Lady Wardogs scratched out single runs in the fourth and fifth frames.
In the fourth, they used consecutive doubles by Cline and Kelsey Neal.
Then in the fifth, Kelly's RBI single gave Miami a three-run cushion.
Cline and Morgan had a double and two singles each. Jurgensmeyer added a double and single.
Neal and Young had a double each while Kelly, Arizpe and Haiden Rowland singled.
