Cowboys from nine states will be on hand during the 66th annual Heart of America Rodeo, which runs Friday and Saturday at the Miami Fairgrounds arena.

Performances are at 8 p.m. each night.

In addition to drawing competitors from the immediate four-state area, there also are cowboys from Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Nebraska and South Dakota.

The rodeo, sponsored by the High Winds Casino and the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce, is co-sanctioned by the Pro Rodeo Cowboys' Association - rodeo's major leagues.

Last year's rodeo drew four of the top seven in the PRCA's Prairie Circuit all-around leaders.

Events on tap will be team roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Points earned here qualify riders for the NFR.

Tickets purchased in advance are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

At the gate, they will be $12 and $6.

Advance tickets are available at all area Westco locations, at the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce and from queen and princess contestants.

Children will be admitted free Friday night when accompanied by a paying adult.

Del Hall will again be the stock contractor.

This year's specialty act is Brice Chapman of Texas.

The grand entry will feature a tribute to legendary announcer Clem McSpadden.

McSpadden and Doug Mathis will handle the announcing duties.
