The Cavaliers and Magic share first place following the second week of play in the fifth- and sixth-grade division of the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa County youth basketball league.

Both are off to 3-1 starts.

The Cavs won both of their games Saturday, beating the Celtics 35-22 and the Heat 33-17.

The Magic suffered their first loss when they fell to the Rockets 26-24.

They bounced back to outgun the Celtics 45-31.

The Heat nipped the Rockets 16-14 in Saturday’s other game.

Because the Will Rogers Middle School is not being used for the Northeastern A&M High School Tournament, a full slate of games will be played Saturday: Lady Wardogs vs. Fireflies, 9 a.m.; Rockets vs. Heat, 10 a.m.; Cavaliers vs. Celtics, 11 a.m.; Magic vs. Rockets, noon; Heat vs. Cavs, 1 p.m., and Celtics vs. Magic, 2 p.m.

Rockets 26, Magic 24

The Rockets used a 18-4 edge in the fourth quarter to claim their win.

Kameron Jinks scored 10 for the Rockets, followed by  Gunner Price with eight, Scott Garrett with four and T.J. Stokes and Luke Freeman with two each.

Ben Pulley’s 11 points topped the Magic scoring. Hunter Forkum added six points, Caleb Bundrick netted four and Tyler Radebaugh chipped in with two.

Heat 16, Rockets 14

An 8-6 edge in the third quarter helped lift the Heat.

Gunner Morgan scored six for the Heat, followed by Kierun Coyne and Josiah McNeil with four each, and Blake Turner with two.

Garrett’s eight points led the way for the Rockets. Jinks and Stokes added four and two, respectively.

Cavs 35, Celtics 22

Christian Folks poured in 22 points to lead the Cavalier attack.

Jeren Joslin added seven while Chris Wisewell, David Young and Quinten Seat contributed two each.

Andrew Reavis and Brandon Ragsdale had eight apiece for the Celts. Jack Osborn, Sam Hughes and David Allen chipped in with two each.

Cavs 33, Heat 17

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

They were up 15-6 at the half and 21-10 after three.

Folks topped the Cavs’ scoring with 14 points. Jerry Reed added 10.

The Cavs also picked up five from Isaac Keller and four from Wisewell.

Morgan led the Heat with six points, followed by Kierun Coyne with four, Wolfgang Flick with three and Dakota Foster and Eli Coyne with two each.

Magic 45, Celtics 31

Forkum poured in 21 points for the Magic.

He was joined in double figures by Radebaugh, who scored 12.

Bundrick added six points, Pulley added five and Grant Hubbard had one point.

Osborn and Reavis scored 11 and 10, respectively, for the Celtics.

Crue Woolman had four points while Dax Pippins, Danny Burgess and Ragsdale scored two each.
