Wardog golf scramble set
The Miami High School football booster club will hold its seventh annual Wardog Golf Classic Saturday.
The 3-person team scramble will be held at Peoria Ridge Golf Course. Registration and player check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
“All proceeds from the annual Golf Classic will directly benefit the Wardog football program,” says Chad Julian, president of the MHS Football Booster Club. “The booster club provides assistance in a variety of ways including sending Miami’s athletes to area football camps during the summer which is vital to our program.”
Registration for the golf scramble is $75 per person, which includes green fee, cart and lunch. The scramble is limited to the first 22 teams.
Top sponsors for the event are First National Bank of Miami and INTEGRIS Baptist Regional Health Center.
Hole sponsors include Security Bank, Green Country Dental Care, Eagle Picher, State Farm Insurance-Dale Owens and State Farm Insurance-Jerry Gullett.

Wardog hoops camp set
The Wardog Basketball Camp, for boys who will be in the third through eighth grades, will be held Monday through Thursday at the Will Rogers Middle School gymnasium.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Registration will be from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. on Monday.
Cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt and basketball. Checks should be made payable to Rusty Mercer.
Instruction will be provided by the MHS boys’ coaching staff along with varsity players.
Gatorade, water and other refreshments will be on sale.

NEO sets girls’ camps
A pair of girls’ basketball camps have been scheduled at Northeastern A&M.
The Lady Norse Camp of Champions will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday through Thursday. Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. on Monday.
The camp is for girls who will be in the second through the eighth grades.
Cost is $60 and players will receive a camp T-shirt and a basketball.
An offensive basketball skills camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 8-11. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on June 8.
The camp is for girls who will be in grades 9 through 12.
Cost for the camp is $50 per player and players will receive a camp T-shirt.

Norse football golf
scramble slated June 12
Entries for the 25th annual Golden Norse football four-man golf scramble scheduled for Friday, June 12, at Peoria Ridge Golf Course are currently being accepted according to tournament director Donnie Bigby.
Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shot-gun start at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $75 per person which includes greens fee, a cart and a hamburger feed following the scramble.
All participants will receive NEO college memorabilia and prizes will consist of NEO merchandise.
“If individuals want to come out and play, we’ll create teams the day of the tournament,” Bigby said. “Right now, we’ve got about 14 hole sponsors, so we’re really trying to attract players.”

Golf clinic set at MG&CC
A junior golf camp will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Miami Golf & Country Club.
The registration fee is $10. The clinic is open to the public, with a minimum age of 8.
Scorers will be needed for the players under 10.

Commerce cheerleaders still selling fireworks
COMMERCE — The Commerce High School cheerleaders are currently selling fireworks as a fund-raiser.
Proceeds will help with expenses for camp this summer.
The price is $50 for a family pack. Orders will be taken until June 15.
Fireworks will be delivered approximately a week before the Fourth of July.

Miami Youth Football
slates ‘meet and greet’
Board of directors members and coaches will be on hand Friday for a “meet and greet” session of the Miami Youth Football League.
The session will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Miami Civic Center. Board members and coaches will be available to answer any questions.
Registration for players, sizing for uniforms and equipment and the handing out of raffle tickets will also take place.
Wardog baseball camp set
The Wardog Baseball Camp, for boys who will be from ages six through 12, will be held June 8-10 according to camp director Chris Mercer.
The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day. Registration will start at 9 a.m. on June 8 at the Miami High School softball field indoor facility.
Cost is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Checks should be made payable to Chris Mercer.
