WARNER Ė Scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning, Northeastern A&Mís 10th-ranked Lady Norse swept an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference double-header 3-1 and 4-1 Tuesday over arch rival Connors State College on the Cowgirls diamond.
While winning their sixth straight game, coach Eric Iversonís Lady Norse are a perfect 4-0 in the conference and 11-3 overall.
Weather permitting the Lady Norse are scheduled to host Seminole State College Thursday in a 4 p.m. double-header on the NEO diamond.
Against the Cowgirls (7-8 and 2-2) with the scored tied 1-1 after seven innings, the Lady Norse received back-to-back solo home runs by Nicole Workman and Alisha Eger to start the eighth inning to gain the victory.
The Workman and Eger combo accounted for NEOís first run in the top of the third inning after both batters reached on errors.
Emily Walters bounced into a fielderís choice, scoring Workman for a 1-0 Lady Norse lead.
The Cowgirls tied the score in the bottom of the sixth inning on their only two hits of the game. A single by a single by Erin Turner and a RBI double by Lauren Pitman.
Eger had a homer and single while Lindy Fluman added two singles to pace the eight-hit Lady Norse offense.
The Lady Norse jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning of the nightcap.
Megan Sullivan walked, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a RBI single by Workman. Eger reached on a fielderís choice before Walters singled.
Both Eger and Walters scored on a double by Jamie King.
Connors scored their only run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a double by Summer Cunningham and a RBI single by Emily Ware.
NEO pinch hitter Allyson Pogue doubled to start the top of the sixth inning.
Walters followed with an RBI single for the final run of the game.
Walters led the eight-hit NEO attack with two singles.
