MAUD - Maud lived up to its No. 4 ranking, breaking out to a 27-6 halftime lead then rolling 49-12 against Bluejacket Friday night.

The loss eliminated the Chieftains (3-6 overall and 2-5 in District C-4 play) from playoff contention.

Bluejacket's only points of the first half came on a 33-yard pass from Justin Fulton to Colby Manners in the first quarter.

Then in the third quarter, the Chieftains scored on an 11-yard scamper by Fulton on their first possession to pull to within 27-12.

They were driving on their next possession before Fulton left the game with an injury.

"We had things going our way at that point," Bluejacket head coach Ronnie Simmons said. "We were running Justin behind Anthony Cantu, Brody Langley, and Aaron Mulleneaux and they (Maud) couldn't stop us."

"After Justin went out, we struggled to move the ball. The kids played hard, Maud was awfully big, and they competed. We had kids open all night, we just couldn't get 'em the ball."

Fulton led Bluejacket with 93 yards rushing and a TD on 20 carries. Craig Root added 15 yards on four carries and Langley added 5 yard on four attempts.

Fulton completed 1 of 12 passes for 33 yards and a TD. Co. Manners had the Chieftains' lone reception.

"Our defense played hard all night, we forced them into quite a few fourth down situations we just couldn't get off the field," Simmons added.

The Chieftains wrap up their season Friday when they host Bokoshe.
