COFFEYVILLE, Kansas - Playing in the hostile atmosphere at Nellis Hall, the Northeastern A&M Lady Norse lost a volleyball match 3-1 Monday to arch rival Coffeyville Community College Lady Ravens.
“It was a very tough place to play because not only were the fans against us, but even the public address announcer was rude and unprofessional,” Lady Norse head coach Eric Iverson. “We let them disrupt our concentration and that affected our consistency.”
After the 14th ranked Lady Ravens won the first game 30-22, the Lady Norse earned a 30-26 victory in the second game. Coffeyville rallied for a 30-25 win in game three before winning the best 3-out-of-5 match by a 30-23 score in the fourth game.
The Lady Norse are scheduled to travel to Lees Summit, Mo., tonight for a 6 p.m. match with 13th rated Metropolitan Community College-Longview. The Lady Lakers swept three games from NEO on Sept. 20 in Miami. Longview is 25-5 on the year.
With the loss the Lady Norse are 11-13 on the season while Coffeyville is 24-10 on the year.
