Miami head coach Chris Risenhoover was pretty pleased with how things went during Tuesday's first time out.
Risenhoover said 35 players were on hand as preparations began for the 2007 season. He said two players were out with injury and he hoped that the numbers might be up to 40 by the time school starts.
“We were pleased,” Risenhoover said. “The numbers were obviously not where need to get to. The kids were upbeat for the first day.”
The Wardogs will hold single practices starting at 9 a.m. through Friday, then will have their annual blue-white scrimmage on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Prior to the scrimmage, the MHS squad will pose for pictures at about 9 a.m.
Miami's first full-scale scrimmage will be Aug. 17 at the Rougher Festival at Muskogee, then they host Vinita on Thursday, Aug. 23.
“Our timing on offense wasn't bad,” Risenhoover said. “We got some stuff accomplished.”
