AFTON — Matt Wisdom had 16 of Afton’s 30 points during the Eagles’ 30-27 victory over Oaks here Thursday night in non-conference basketball play.

That completed a sweep as Afton’s girls picked up a 41-37 victory.

Oaks broke out to a 14-10 lead in the first quarter of the boys game. Afton narrowed the gap to 21-19 at the half.

Each team scored four points in the third period and the Eagles pulled out the win with a 7-2 margin over the last eight minutes.

Wisdom got 14 of his game-high 16 points in the first half. Bradley Markes and Brennon Fuser added five apiece.

Tanner Philpot had 12 points for the Warriors, who had only three players score.

Afton’s girls used a 26-23 advantage in the second half to nail down their victory.

The Lady Eagles trailed 9-8 after one quarter, but grabbed a 15-14 lead by intermission.

Afton outscored the Lady Warriors 11-8 in the third frame then each team scored 15 in the fourth.

Shelbie VanPielt and Jacey Grimes scored 15 and 11, respectively, to lead the Lady Eagle attack.

Cheyenne Foreman was Oaks’ scoring leader with 11 points.

Afton hosts Welch tonight in Lucky 7 Conference play.
