Allowing two earned runs in the top of the fourth inning cost Northeastern A&M as the Golden Norsemen suffered a 9-5 loss Saturday to Crowder College at Homa Thomas Field.

Coach Roger Ward's Norsemen travel to Enid Tuesday for a 1 p.m. double-header with the Northern Oklahoma College Jets.

Sophomore right-hander Jared White pitched six innings but received no decision. White struck out five without allowing a walk.

“We felt Jared would keep us in the game and he did,” Golden Norse head coach Roger Ward said. “With with six freshmen in our starting lineup, we committed a couple of errors that led to some unearned runs and a shift in momentum.”

Sophomore center fielder Josh Botts led the Norse offense with two singles while veteran shortstop Wesley Starkes added two hits and two RBI.

Solo home runs by right-fielder Ryan Clark and transfer Rickey Brown also accounted for NEO runs.

“Three of our freshmen were a combined 0-11 which had an adverse effect on our offense,” Ward said. “We just didn't play very tough and we can only use the fact that these kids are freshmen for so long.”

Crowder got two hits each from Bubby Williams, Tyler Mattson and Tim Watson.
