MUSKOGEE - Miami split games with Muskogee and Shawnee during a pre-regional softball festival here Saturday.

The Lady Wardogs suffered a 9-2 loss to the host Lady Roughers, then claimed a 7-5 decision over Shawnee.

Miami now heads into Class 5A regional play Thursday at Skiatook.

Shawnee took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Miami did its damage in the third and fourth frames.

The game was tied after three since Shawnee scored three times and Miami four.

Haiden Rowland singled and Roberts reached on an error before Emily Cline reached on a fielder's choice. Kelsey Neal flied out before Veronica Arizpe had a two-run triple to highlight the inning for the Lady Wardogs.

Courtnei Young picked up a RBI with a sacrifice fly and Melanie Blackburn chipped in with a single.

Miami generated the deciding three runs with a two-out rally in the fourth. Neal delivered a two-run single and Young drove in a run with a base hit.

The Lady Wolves created the final margin in the fifth.

In the sixth, they loaded the bases with two out but a called third strike ended the game.

Arizpe had a triple and single while Cline had two singles for MHS. Neal, Young, Blackburn, Shelby Jurgensmeyer, Lacy Morgan and Rowland each singled.

Muskogee 9, Miami 2

The Lady Wardogs grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on singles by Arizpe and Young and a double by Blackburn.

However, Muskogee took the lead for good in the home half of the first when it scored four times.

Consecutive singles by Blackburn, Jurgensmeyer, Morgan and Rowland generated the Lady Wardogs' final run in the fourth.

Muskogee picked up two runs in the fifth then closed out the game in the sixth with three more tallies.

Blackburn had a double and single for Miami, which also picked up two singles from Rowland. Arizpe, Young, Jurgensmeyer and Morgan each had a single.
