Miami High School head football coach Chris Risenhoover is leaving for Stigler, the News-Record has learned.

Risenhoover, whose family lives in the Stigler area, replaces Chris Douglas, who has accepted another coaching position.

The move is pending approval of both the Miami and Stigler school boards at their June 8 meetings.

Douglas led the Panthers to a 7-4 record in 2008. They were second in District 2A 7, suffering a† 27-7 first-round upset loss to Beggs.

Risenhoover compiled a 33-24 record in five seasons. Miami reached the playoffs each season.

The Dogs suffered a heartbreaking 14-7 loss to El Reno in a second-round 2008 Class 5A playoff game.

A fumble in the end zone with six seconds left was recovered by El Reno for the deciding points.

Miamiís best record under Risenhoover was 9-3 in 2005. The Wardogs lost to eventual state champ Clinton in the quarterfinals.

Risenhoover succeeded Rich Jones as the Wardog helm in 2004.
