QUAPAW - Commerce, Welch and Vinita were in the driver's seat after the second day of pool play at the Quapaw Tournament.

The Lady Tigers won their second straight Green Division game, beating Wyandotte 7-3.

Welch and Vinita were atop the White Division with 2-0 records. The Lady Wildcats topped Afton 1-0 while Vinita clipped Fairland 7-2.

In the day's other game, it was Ketchum 2, Quapaw 1.

Today's schedule includes Afton vs. Fairland, 3:30 p.m.; Wyandotte vs. Ketchum, 5 p.m.; Welch vs. Vinita, 6:30 p.m., and Commerce vs. Quapaw, 8 p.m.

The seventh-place game will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the fifth-place contest at 10:30 a.m. and the third place game at noon.

The championship will be settled at 1:30 p.m.

Welch 1, Afton 0

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch.

Ashley Marlow led off the inning with a single then stole second. Kalleigh Chrz followed with a base hit.

A wild pitch allowed Marlow and Chrz to move into scoring position, then another wild pitch went Marlow home with the winning run.

Afton had only three baserunners as Chrz struck out 13 and walked none en route to the win.

Allison Bean reached on a two-out error in the first, but was left stranded.

Then in the fourth, Jakey Dobbs led off with a single - the Lady Eagles' only hit - then Olivia Shaul was awarded first on interference with one out. Chrz then struck out the next two batters to escape damage.
