COMMERCE — A 20-3 explosion in the fourth quarter helped Fairland chalk up a 47-34 decision over Commerce in a Lucky 7 Conference basketball game Tuesday night.

The Commerce girls rolled to a 42-31 victory in the opener.

The Owls trailed 31-27 heading into the final stanza.

Fairland jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the first quarter, but Commerce turned the tables in the second with a 13-6 spurt.

The Tigers followed that up with a 12-9 edge in the third period, giving them a four-point cushion heading into the fourth.

J.C. Morrow and Jesse Drosche scored 12 points each for the Owls, who also got 11 points from Seth Bunce.

Dusty Williams had 13 points to lead Commerce. The Tigers also got 10 points from Zack Barnes.

Fairland held a lopsided 36-12 edge in rebounding.

In the girls’ game, Commerce led only 8-4 after the first quarter then pulled away thanks to a 17-8 run in the second.

The Lady Owls pulled to within nine points with an 11-7 advantage in the third quarter.

Commerce nailed down the win by outscoring FHS 10-8 in the final stanza.

Johna Sharp had 15 points and Kourtney Reading added 10 for Commerce.

Kelsey Campbell’s 13 points led the way for the Lady Owls.

Commerce hosts Welch on Friday. Fairland is idle until Jan. 8, when it travels to Ketchum.
